DESIGNER NAME: Kit Neale

BACKGROUND: London-born Kit worked under Gareth Pugh, Duckie Brown and Tom Scott before setting up his label. He also worked for many years at Wonderland Magazine and has freelanced as a print designer, stylist and visiting tutor.

SIGNATURES: “I am known primarily for my prints.”

TRADEMARK PIECE: “The reversible bomber jackets are timeless and the printed jeans are receiving a lot of attention at the moment.”

IDEAL CLIENT: “Your everyday lad.”

ON BRITISH MENSWEAR: “British menswear is steeped in tradition and craft from London’s Savile Row to Northampton’s shoemaking industry. We’re a nation rich in unique culture warped in history and multiculturalism. In my opinion, we have seen these aspects boom and collide in the last few years to churn out an exciting new prospect for the future of British menswear.”

THE COLLECTION: “The great British pub and working men’s clubs and the cultures they have spawned was the starting point for AW13.”

TIPS FOR THE MAN-ABOUT-TOWN: “London hides a heap of treasures. The Leighton House Museum and the Museum of Brands, Packaging and Advertising are our latest discoveries.”

CULTURAL INFLUENCES: “Everyone is urged to read Dick Hebdige's ‘Subculture: The Meaning of Style’. He exemplifies how important style is and charts subcultures post World War I.  It is the Kit Neale bible.”

PLANS FOR 2013: “Hopefully a full pint of Guinness at the end of it.”
